OBE: Searching for my guide

May 24, 2023 - OBE
Waxing Moon in Cancer, Lunar day 6

I wake up, and there are several cellphones on the nightstand. Each of them shows a different time, which I find a bit odd. Suddenly, my vision is stuck, and I realize I must be in an early OBE, so I try to get up. I manage to stand up, but my vision is fixated on my physical body lying on the bed. I find the door, attempt to open my astral eyes again but fail. Since my vision is still blocked, I continue blindly. I feel my way along the paintings in the hallway, descend the stairs, and reach another door. I discover a table in the living room, where a cat sniffs my hand. Furthermore, I spot another cat sleeping in the middle of the couch.

I sit down and wait. Then my vision reappears! At first, I'm not fully convinced because everything looks so real. I must have woken up and sleepwalked my way here. I perform a couple of reality checks, and then it slowly dawns on me—I'm still in the other realm! I decide to go straight through the door (as another reality check) to the front room. However, as I'm about to leave, I realize I'm still wearing my pajamas. This reminds me of the previous dream I had, which was quite embarrassing! I know I'm not in the physical world, but I'm still uncertain if I should change because the astral is supposed to be a collective world too... okay, I'm going to change! Coincidentally, I find some clothes and grab them. Meanwhile, some people enter my house, and one woman, in particular, mentions she needs a plaster mold and starts taking measurements of my pottery wheel. She expresses interest in private lessons, but I don't have time for that, especially not here! I try to explain to her that I want to help her, but not right now because I'm in an OBE. She looks at me strangely.

"You don't need to believe me, just search for OBE when you wake up, and you'll see what it's about. I will help you later!"

The house starts to get crowded, so I politely, yet urgently, try to get everyone out because time is running out. Once I'm outdoors, I contemplate what to do next. Maybe I should find one of my guides! I walk around a bit, and then I decide to fly, and soon I'm in a rural neighborhood. I see several tiny little homesteads from another time, quite simple, and I know I'm going to find my guide here.

I enter the little home on the left and see a small man sitting in the living room, but he tells me right away that he's not the one I'm looking for. I notice some cute little guinea pigs walking around and even see my own cat! It seems like she's sometimes "helping out in the astral realm"... although I'm not really sure what such a tiny little cat with an attitude is supposed to be doing. Then, I see a woman I recognize (not from real life).

"Mio! Are you my guide?"

-"I don't know, am I?"

She doesn't seem bothered or surprised by my visit and is already busy preparing some tea. However, the world starts to become unstable, and soon everything fades. I can still hear her voice in the distance, and I mention that I needed advice about work, but it's too late. I can't hear her anymore. The realm grows more and more distant. (End)

A visionary guide to Lucid Dreaming by Lee Adams

This book was recently shared for free in the Discord group The Icarus Project by Lee Adams himself. It’s a server entirely dedicated to lucid dreaming... and it makes things fun with different tiers. So, of course, the book immediately went onto my reading list. The book is divided into five parts: The Dreamer and the Dream Lucid Dreaming: Foundational Techniques Working with Your Dreams The Dreamer’s Journey Advanced Tools and Supplements for Lucid Dreaming With a total of 30 chapters. Yes, 30! With so many chapters, you know this isn’t just a basic book on dreaming. The Introduction The first part covers what lucid dreaming is, what’s important to have lucid dreams, the difference between lucid dreams and OBEs (Out-of-Body Experiences), and why awareness is key to the lucid dreaming journey. Lee delves into the different states of consciousness, mindfulness, and daily habits. This quote sums it up nicely: "Developing the skill of lucid dreaming is developing the habit of being...

My story and stats

Counting Dreams: A Journey Through the Years  I finally took the time to tally up all the dreams I’ve had over the years. Let’s just say, this wasn’t a weekend project! For anyone curious about my journey and how it all started, I’ve shared my story and the stats below.  How It All Began  Officially, I started my dream journals in the summer of 2007 , though I had tried several times before that. I remember one attempt when I was a teenager—I used colorful pens and pretty sheets of paper, hoping to make it all special. But I couldn't keep up with it. Eventually, I gave up because it wasn’t as perfect as I’d imagined. This pattern repeated over the years, and the only attempt I clearly remember was from a family trip under a full moon. All the other times, I can only recall as spontaneous decisions on random days. Then, I came across advice that changed my approach: journals don’t need to be pretty, because that might create resistance. So, I bought a simple, sturdy notebo...

The Head Trip by Jeff Warren

Another one from my old collection. It’s been a while since I last read this book, but I remember finding it fascinating, so I thought it deserved a spot on my blog. Naturally, I’m rereading it. The concept of this book revolves around a wheel—the Wheel of Consciousness. This wheel moves, in general, according to our biological clock, following a 24-hour cycle. Sometimes, it turns faster; at other times, it moves more slowly. The book is divided into two parts: Night and Day . From there, it splits further into segments of the “pie” (or wheel). First up: Night, starting with its opening chapter: Hypnagogia There aren’t many books dedicated to hypnagogia. I did review one recently ( Liminal Dreaming ) that dives deeply into the subject. It’s only in recent years that writers have started focusing entire books on this topic, which is great for those who want a comprehensive look. But for anyone not ready to commit to a full book, this chapter provides an excellent summary. Image by Jeff...
